Uluru to Adelaide Tour With Flinders Ranges, Coober Pedy & Kings Canyon

Your adventure kicks off at 2pm, when you meet your Storyteller Guide in Yulara. After a warm welcome and group intro, we head straight into Uluru–Kata Tjuta National Park to begin connecting with Country.

Our first stop is the Cultural Centre, where you’ll begin learning about Aṉangu culture and the stories that make this landscape one of the most significant places in Australia. Spending time here brings a deeper understanding of the Country we’re travelling through, adding important context before experiencing Uluru itself.

From here, we head back to camp to settle in before making our way out for one of the most anticipated moments of the journey, sunset over Uluru. As the afternoon light begins to soften, the rock slowly shifts through deep reds, burnt orange, and gold, standing quietly against the vast desert landscape in a way that photos never fully capture. There’s no rush here, just time to sit back, take it all in, and appreciate exactly where you are.

Back at camp, share a hearty dinner and roll out your swag beneath a sky bursting with stars. This is just the beginning.

Wake to another untamed moment as the majestic domes of Kata Tjuṯa rise from the desert in the soft morning light. Holding deep cultural significance for the Aṉangu people, this is one of the most important landscapes within the national park.

Embark on the 2.6 km Walpa Gorge Walk, a serene trail through a dramatic natural corridor, where ancient creek beds and unique desert plant life create a landscape rich in story and stillness.

Back at camp, take the opportunity to unwind, cool off in the pool, or enjoy some of the cultural experiences available around the resort.

Later, we return to Uluru for the guided Base Walk, giving us the chance to experience Australia’s most iconic landmark from a completely different perspective. Walking alongside the base reveals sacred sites, waterholes, and stories that help explain why Uluru remains such an important cultural place today.

This evening is yours to enjoy, with the option to join the unforgettable Field of Light experience after dark.

After breakfast, we leave Yulara behind and journey into the heart of Watarrka National Park, home to one of the most striking natural features in the Red Centre, Kings Canyon.

The drive itself is part of the experience, with long open roads, endless desert scenery, and the feeling that you’re travelling through one of the most remote parts of the country. Along the way, your Storyteller Guide shares stories about life in the Red Centre and the landscapes surrounding you.

By afternoon, we arrive at Kings Creek Station, a working cattle station surrounded by classic outback scenery and our base for the night. Depending on conditions and seasonal park access, our Kings Canyon hiking experience may take place later this afternoon or early the following morning, making the most of conditions on the day.

Kings Canyon is one of those places that often catches people by surprise. The scale of the cliffs, the colours of the sandstone, and the sheer size of the landscape make it one of the standout experiences of the journey.

There’s time to cool off in the pool, grab a drink at the station, or simply enjoy a slower afternoon before dinner.

Tonight, dinner is available at the station before another night swag camping beneath some of the clearest skies in the Australian outback.

Today’s journey takes us south across the Northern Territory–South Australia border, through vast desert plains and ever-changing landscapes. It’s one of the longer driving days of the trip, but the scenery makes every kilometre worthwhile.

By late afternoon, we roll into Coober Pedy, a place unlike anywhere else in Australia. Known as the country’s opal capital, this small desert town is famous for its extreme temperatures, with summer days regularly pushing beyond 50 degrees. To escape the heat, much of the town has been built underground, with homes, bars, churches, and hotels carved directly into the sandstone hills.

The moment you arrive, Coober Pedy feels strange in the best possible way. It’s dusty, unconventional, and full of character, giving a glimpse into a side of Australia that very few travellers ever experience.

Tonight, settle into your underground bunkhouse at Radeka Downunder, with the evening free to explore town and grab dinner at one of the local spots nearby.

After breakfast, dive into the underground world of Coober Pedy with a visit to the Old Timers Mine. Discover how these precious stones are formed, hear stories from the generations of miners who built this remarkable underground town, and try your luck at noodling, fossicking through red dust for opal fragments. You never know what might turn up.

From here, we begin the journey south through the vast outback landscapes of South Australia.

By late afternoon, we arrive at Warren Gorge, located within the spectacular Southern Flinders Ranges, one of the oldest landscapes in Australia and a part of the country surprisingly few international travellers ever experience. This region feels quieter, wilder, and far less travelled, with ancient geology, native wildlife, and deep Aboriginal history stretching back thousands of years. Keep an eye out for the rare yellow-footed rock wallabies, often seen moving across the rocky hills surrounding camp.

After setting up camp, enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by your guide, then kick back and look up. Roll out your swag and fall asleep beneath some of the clearest night skies anywhere in Australia, surrounded by the timeless energy of this extraordinary landscape.

Wake up in the rugged beauty of Warren Gorge, where today’s first adventure begins with a walk through one of the quieter corners of the Southern Flinders Ranges. Framed by orange cliffs and rocky outcrops, this is one of the best places to spot the rare yellow-footed rock wallabies that call the region home.

After the walk, we roll into Hawker, a small outback town with big artistic flair. You’ll have free time to grab lunch and check out the Jeff Morgan Gallery, home to enormous panoramic artworks that capture the scale, history, and character of the Australian outback.

Later in the afternoon, we arrive at Ikara Flinders Ranges National Park and head out on the Arkaroo Rock Walk, one of the region’s most significant cultural experiences. The trail winds through native bushland before reaching an ancient rock shelter decorated with artwork believed to be thousands of years old. These markings tell the story of Akurra, the giant serpent whose movements shaped the surrounding landscape according to Adnyamathanha tradition.

Tonight, we settle into camp at Wilpena Pound. Depending on timing and availability, there may be opportunities to learn more about local Yura culture and Adnyamathanha stories, before enjoying dinner beneath one of Australia’s certified Dark Sky Reserves.

After one final breakfast together, we roll up our swags and set out on the Arkaroo Rock Trail. This short but rewarding walk offers sweeping views across the Chace Range and introduces the ancient rock art and Dreaming stories of the Adnyamathanha people, providing one last opportunity to connect with the rich cultural heritage of the Flinders Ranges.

Leaving the ranges behind, we travel south to the historic railway town of Quorn, where you’ll have time to purchase lunch and explore this charming outback township, famous for its heritage buildings and appearances in films including The Water Diviner and Wolf Creek.

Our journey continues through the picturesque Clare Valley wine region, with its rolling vineyards and scenic countryside, before arriving in Adelaide at approximately 7:00 pm, where your unforgettable outback adventure comes to an end.
